SHELLAC™

We know you will LOVE your nails while wearing SHELLAC™, and we expect your nails to last flawlessly for at least 14 days as long as you give them a little care and attention.

We say shellac is pretty durable with normal wear and tear. Which means you have to partner with us. Adding protection to your nails when doing tough jobs like:

  • household cleaning
  • gardening
  • chemical products without wearing gloves
  • Hobbies that are rough on the hands

Doing these things without protection can mar your shellac service.

If you do cause damage to your shellac coating and notice any of the following signs, we hope you will find the advice below helpful.

If something has caused a chip or lifted the edge of your shellac, please do NOT pick it, as this will increase the damage.

Please note that repairs are chargeable.

If you are on holiday, please be careful when using suntan oils or insect-repellent solutions. Many of these products contain solvent oils, which will cause significant damage to the shellac coating.

Some more delicate Shellac colours can fade somewhat if you are in chlorinated water, followed by excessive sun (remember chlorine is a bleach, and the sun intensifies the bleaching action). Dry your hands and nails after swimming and before sunbathing to minimise colour fading.

Please use solar oil at LEAST TWICE a day (especially at night before bed) to replace lost moisture in your skin and nails. We recommend CND SolarOil. Regularly using CND aftercare products will substantially prolong your Shellac manicure’s life and keep your natural nails and the skin surrounding them healthy, moisturised and flexible.

Your Shellac will need fortnightly or three-weekly maintenance, depending on your lifestyle and activity level, as there will be noticeable regrowth. At this point, we can re-Shellac your nails or remove them, leaving a natural nail.

If you decide to remove your Shellac, please call us so we can do it safely in the salon. Incorrect removal at home may cause damage to the surface of your nails. We will remove Shellac with a professional remover and give you a mini manicure so your natural nails look perfectly groomed.
